Mini Update

Well, as usual, our Jury Term went much differently than planned. We've had three last minute plea deals (YAY) and ended up doing one short burglary trial last week, and we're possibly starting one more short criminal trial tomorrow. I also covered the closings and verdict for another judge last Friday in a civil case. Other than that, I've had some time to work on transcripts, play online, etc. Hence, writing this blog today...

Here's the Jaceman and Kyndal Faith playing on Mom's old saddle, with one of my favorite pictures of Grandad behind them!

So cute and fun! :)

My hand blocking the sun while watching Josh and the kids on the golf course from Mom and Dad's backyard. :)

J&K singing "God makes me BRAVE!!" for Babah and Grandad. =)

The biggest and most awesome rainbow I've seen in a long time, going right over Main Street in Jenks. ;-)

J&K watching Lion King at Josh's new office (Integrity Security). =)

This feels true lately. So many big thoughts and so little that I want to actually write down here. Hopefully that will shift soon...

True 90% of the time. lol

Yay, sleep!

All is well. I had a good weekend with the family at home. Marco's Pizza and March Madness games with Charlene and Mom and Dad. Lifechurch and then Ron's lunch with the three of them plus Grandad and Babah and the Parrishes. Fun shopping with Mom. Back to Tulsa. Housecleaning. Deep thinking. Big decisions. Wanting change and fearing change... trying to discern God's best for me and the next step to take. Bubble bath. :) Watching New Girl and laughing out loud more than any other show! Saw Life with Tiffany on Friday and thought it was gross and stupid. Saw The Last Word by myself on Sunday and really liked it!

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll be in more of a writing mood soon. Happy Tuesday!

Monday Memes - HP =)

Because my Harry Potter phase is still going strong, here are some HP memes for your Monday enjoyment!

I'm a big fan of them both, and I like that they were such good friends in real life, and that they were in at least 10 movies together! :)

How adorable were they when they were so little!? While I was sick, I watched all the behind the scenes stuff and interviews on the last DVD. So fun!! :)

Listening to the audiobook, I didn't quite catch it all, but now that I'm reading it, I probably understand the rules of Quidditch better than I do football or basketball. lol

This one cracked me up as soon as I read "Sparkle sparkle!" lol  Ugh, the ridiculousness of Twilight. And the Mean Girls reference made me happy, too. =)

To be fair to JK, Buckbeak never actually died.

=)

So many good ones! lol

There are more Snape memes than any other character. lol I still remember Mom asking, "Is that the bad guy from Die Hard!?" when I was watching HP. :) Such a distinct, sa-low-ly pronounced voice! lol

Not a joke, just a good line from the book. :)

Definitely laughed out loud when I read this one! :)

Lol

Lots of nose memes for Voldemort also!

Precious Harry and his room under the stairs.

=)

Changing up the last movie poster! :)

That's all I've got with the memes. I couldn't find the Voldemort Flakes cereal one, but it's pretty funny, too! :) In other news, Tiffany and I finally made it to Hurts Donuts this Saturday. They just opened recently, so it's super popular... we waited in line for an hour and a half, but it was fun and memorable. Sarah and Steve stopped by to say hello, and we laughed at the girl carrying a chair around with her all through the line, and we laughed at ourselves a lot too.  "Standing in this line counts as cardio, right?  ...Man, when we fall off the no sweets wagon, we fall hard!" ~Tiffany #truth

Most of them looked tempting and worth trying, but this was maple bacon looked disgusting to me!

Anyway, happy Monday! Jury trial starting tomorrow morning, but it's not the one I was dreading, so I'm thankful for that!!

Carry On

I love that lyric, and I downloaded that song tonight after watching The Voice. =)

The downtime today has been good (Spa Day Sunday), and I've actually had a lot of fun time with family and friends and the girlfranz lately, but I've still been feeling a little lonely. I know the ironic truth is that I am not alone in feeling that way. Everyone has seasons of feeling forgotten or misunderstood or undesirable or lonely or bored or tired of waiting on ___ or just feeling sad for no particular reason. I'm getting better at turning to God in those moments and not spiraling downward or letting my feelings take control...

Today, my mind wandered to children in the foster care system, thinking about the hard things they have seen and heard and how alone and afraid and sad and forgotten they might sometimes feel. God redirected my thoughts, so my sad moment was cut off and turned into compassion and prayer. I want to help. I want to be a mom or at least a mother figure to a child in desperate need of care and love and hope. I want to do the fun aunt stuff, but I want to do all the hard mom stuff, too. I want to be all in. It's something I've thought and prayed about for quite a while now -- I wrote about it for the first time HERE back in 2010 -- and my thoughts echo a very similar pattern today, but with more confidence and peace, a deeper understanding of the sacrifice and commitment involved, and far less fear of other people's judgments. So I signed up today for info and classes on foster parenting and/or fostering to adopt... get excited!!  I know I am! =)

I could obviously say a lot more on that subject and the financial planning behind it and other big decisions that go along with it, but I'm just gonna leave it there for now and be praying for God's direction. So that's all I've got today. Carry on! ;)

Photo Friday!!

Happy Saint Patty's Day! =)

I'm not even going to bother trying to write anything deep today. Soon enough, though. I have a gruesome felony murder trial followed by a child molestation trial ahead of me these next two weeks, so I'm needing to keep my non-work life light and happy and fun and full of God's peace!! It has been a great mini "Spring Break" week for me with family and friends, and I'm about to head to On The Border with Tiffany and then Beauty and the Beast with Tiffany, Sarah, and Jenna! =)  Anyway, here are some recent pictures...

Mom did some online shoe shopping for me, and the Miss K wanted to try the tallest heels on! :) She did surprisingly well walking in them. I love the top right pic of her face. The bottom pic is a car selfie... she was proud to be sitting there for the 2 minute drive without her car seat. :)

The Jaceman showing me his glow cube (actually Rachael's from a Disney trip many years ago). I like that Mom and Dad and Kyndal Faith in her bunny ears and her Pistol Pete statue-friend are all in the background! lol

Miss K looking through the scrapbook with Mamaw! So precious in her flower headband. :)

A random pic I text Rach because it blew my mind that Danny from Blue Bloods used to be in New Kids on the Block!!! Whaaaaat!? I also didn't realize he was Mark Wahlberg's brother, so I learned all kind of things that day, thanks to the crazy terrible sitcom that is Fuller House! lol

Working on the Parrish Fam scrapbook - Mom's done the vast majority of it, but I helped out a little this weekend! =)

I got to have lunch at Hideaway with Elizabeth yesterday... she's been my proofreader for a while and we've emailed back and forth a lot, so it was great to finally meet her and hang out!  Yay for new OKC friends!!

Charlene and the Parrishes came over for spaghetti dinner (+ bread, chocolate cake, and jello pie). I was sitting with Miss Kyndal and took this candid pic of Mom, Dad, and Charlene in the kitchen. :)

This makes me happy! lol  Kyndal doing her eyebrow raise thing and Charlene's reaction to it! :)

Mom and Kyndal facetiming with Rach and Jace! :)

Miss K tried really hard to spend the night, but she missed her Momma and had to go back home a little after midnight. She's a tiny preshface in her PJs with her little pacifier... I just love her so much!!

Leftovers for lunch today (I chose that over Chick-Fil-A). Yummers! =)

Rach adopting Chet's water philosophy! lol

Everyone in their St. Patricks Day green! =)

I call this pic "Sad Chettles." lol  It's actually a sketch of the guy who tried to jump the fence at the White House, and Mom text it to me and asked who I thought it looked like... I was just thinking he looked Asian, so when she said, "CHET!!" it made me laugh pretty hard thinking of all the talks about his squinty eyes. I told her this guy looked too sad to remind me of Chet, but I do see her point now. lol

Here's the Chet I'm more used to seeing. lol These are the awesome new shelves they installed in the Farmhouse garage! :)

I took this celebratory pic at the end of the first day I had my new FitBit and reached my step goal. (The numbers mean 10,624 steps, 17 flights of stairs, 4.5 miles, 2,943 calories burned, and I think the lightening thing is for the % the battery is charged. Anyway, I got sick on day two and was diagnosed with bronchitis a couple days later, so I've not even bothered to wear it lately. So now it's just funny that I got in my one good workout day... kinda like my one sweets-free meal before I ate a fortune cookie at lunch without even thinking about it! lol  #whatever

J&K being silly racing back and forth... I love how happy and excited they get over the smallest things! :)

Just a random meme that made my introvert self laugh! It was on the INFJ page I follow on FB, talking about how we love our downtime on weekends. It's true, but I love family and friends time, too!

Anyhow, hope it's been a good week, a happy Friday, and a fun Saint Patrick's Day!! Enjoy your weekend!
Update: Here's a pic of our girls movie night! That's really all now. :)

Resting Up

(On speakerphone with J&K yesterday:)
Jaceman:  Ummm, I love you.
Me:  I love YOU!
Jace:  I hope you feel better!
Me:  Thanks so much!! I hope so, too.
.....two seconds later.....
Jace: Do you feel good now!??
Me: Oh, uh, not just yet. Probably soon, though!

Lol Kyndal also wanted to check on how I was doing this morning. Hearing her say to Mom, "Can I say sumpin to Lindsey!??" kinda made my day before she even asked if I was feeling better. :) They're both so sweet and cute!!

This = them at the Science Museum last week... all the cuteness. :)

Long time, no see! It's rare that I go a full week without writing, but I've been prayer journaling, so maybe that's filling the void for me. I've had a cough/congestion since Tuesday night, and after a ROUGH morning in court yesterday (eyes watering, nose running, throat itching, trying not to cough during important moments and grabbing water and kleenex when the attorneys would pause a minute), I went to Urgent Care and learned that I have bronchitis again! Lamesauce. But after a steroid shot + antibiotics, pills for the cough, cough syrup, and an inhaler... I feel much improved! lol  The "Ain't Nobody Got Time for That" song immediately popped in my head when I heard bronchitis (see video below), but truthfully, I'm all about the resting and my schedule is pretty free for it! lol The doctor was awesome and wrote me a note to miss work on Monday. She said she prescribed lots of Netflix and couch time. I said, "Deal!" :)

I've slept a ridiculous amount this week, which has been great and makes losing an hour of sleep feel irrelevant. In the last two days, I've watched The Mighty Ducks ("FLYING V!!!"), Blank Check (awesomely cheesy blast from the past), Sister Act 2, and the last few episodes of The Grinder! So good!!  I also chatted with Jenna, read a little, journaled a little, and took a hot Jacuzzi bath with eucalyptus mint Epsom salt! :) A perfectly lazy rainy Saturday. I'm planning to scrapbook a bit (my online scrapbook for 2015-2016) and maybe get dressed and go to LifeChurch sometime tomorrow. I'm excited about this Through the Eyes of a Lion series - I've heard great things about that book!

These pics are from Blank Check - I got so cracked up when they went by Haagen-Dazs and he comes out with a literal trash can full of ice cream sundae! Both absurd and awesome! lol

This was the quote for the day in my journal yesterday. Really!?? lol  Nothing like Charlie Sheen to bring the inspiration!

And without further ado, here is the infamous Sweet Brown clip that still makes me happy! :)

That's all I got for now. I'm off to snuggle up in my recliner with a blanket and watch the last Harry Potter movie! Get excited!! My introvert batteries will be all charged up soon. lol There's not one thing I have to do until work on Tuesday, and that's pretty awesome!
