(I'm focusing on the "new things" part more than the "embracing" ...most of these count for both, but some obviously would not.) I keep a running list in the Notes app on my phone now. This year's is up to 12 so far. :) And last year's post can be found HERE. Anyway, here are 50 new things I embraced (or at least tried) for the first time between 2-17-15 and 2-17-16 (my 31st and 32nd birthday)...
1) Strength - deliberately becoming stronger in body, soul, and spirit!
2) Dating someone I respect and admire, set up by trusted friends!
4) Eating in the actual "hen house" at Sam n Ella's – cute!
6) Finally trying deviled eggs (on Easter Sunday 2015 at JEM’s house)
7) More cooking (spinach omelette, “KFC” Kristin Foster chicken, burritos, quinoa, asparagus, tacos, lasagna rolls, peach cobbler, etc.)
8) Applying for a teaching position in Texas, an insurance sales position in Tulsa, and the Masters program at SNU! (No, no, and no… awesomesauce.)
9) Eating hummus (thanks to Tara Lynn & Zoes kitchen) and quinoa (thanks to the Fosters and then my kitchen). :)
10) Cupcake Wine… the Moscato is almost sweet enough for me to actually like! :)
11) AW Tozer books, and making reading before bed more of a routine. Any time I sit up and read in bed, I feel like Carol Brady... Is that weird? lol
12) The Riverside Fitness Together and my awesome trainer, Melissa (until she quit to stay home with her kids).
13) Baking the Pioneer Woman sheet cake… with Heath Bar instead of pecans... D, to the E, to the L-I-C-I-O-U-S! :)
14) Applying for the Campus Administrator position and doing a phone interview with Jenks LifeChurch... (being an introvert is so not ideal if you want to work there, even in a behind-the-scenes capacity).
15) The awesome chicken salad sandwich and “chocolate cobbler" at Miss Scarlett's Tea Room in Sapulpa!
17) The AuthorLaunch course by Allison Fallon (picking back up on it this year)
18) Ming's Noodle Bar and their Chicken Pad Thai (with the women’s LG)
19) Brand new AC and heater for my house!
20) Budgeting more carefully and paying off credit card debt (largely thanks to Babah and Grandad's generous Christmas gift, which I also embraced!! lol)
21) Not having cable TV (for at least a year now) ...turns out I can find plenty to watch on the regular channels! lol
22) Joining Planet Fitness… so embracing Pizza Mondays, the massage chair, red light therapy, the elliptical, and the 30-minute circuit room! lol
24) My first ever cream-filled donut! (at Krispy Kreme on National Donut Day, no less)
25) Finally getting my passport!!! (For a Niagara trip that's now been postponed. lol)
26) Helping a lost dog get back home (gorgeous Australian Shepherd in my neighborhood named Laynie).
27) FBC’s Mentor Program (met one-on-one with Kelly Hayes for 5+ months)
28) Biblical Counseling & Ecclesiastes Impact Class at FBC (and the $2 pre-class dinners)!
29) Flying non-stop with Allegiant Airlines! (to Florida and Vegas)
30) Weight Watchers – both the PointsPlus and SmartPoints programs!
31) Genghis Grill and Sisserous Caribbean restaurant - meh.
32) Being a SparklesnMesh admin on FB to help Rach after the wreath contest!
33) Finally watching Mulan with Sarah!
34) The Main Event (the one in OKC for Josh's birthday - fun bowling & laser tag with the nephews)!
35) Tomato Salsa (on my burrito bowls at Chipotle – gives it a little something extra) and tomato on a sandwich – who knew!? lol
37) Using Uber on our Vegas trip (I liked it much better than taking cabs)!
38) Apple Music (the 3-month free trial)... I mostly listened to songs from The Voice, but it was pretty nice having it!
39) My first echocardiogram (the doctors saw a suspicious spot late last year… but all is well, and I kinda loved getting to see the ultrasound monitor of my heart).
40) The outdoor bar at the Wynn's "Lake of Dreams" in Vegas!
41) First time I've ever broken my iPhone or actually had to visit the Apple Store (also Vegas).
42) Fried Okra at Lambert's Café… good-ish, but a waste of room when there are rolls being passed out!
43) My first time inside a cave (with a cool waterfall) ~ Big Cedar trip!
44) Boarding the girlfranz at Woodland West every once in a while... and transporting them without their crates when it's a super-short trip... lots of this cuteness in the rearview mirror! lol
45) Reading one Bible chapter a day, 7 times through (New Year’s resolution for 2016 – more on that later).
46) Attending the Catalyst Conference and meeting Andy Stanley!
47) An almost free Big Cedar trip, going to the Top of the Rock for the first time, and singing in the chapel!
48) Mom and Dad's new house!! (And reminiscing during the moving process.)
49) Finally getting to see T&C play basketball (and Josh coach them)!
50) Singing Christmas carols at Saint Simeon's Senior Community!
