Thankful Thursday (#121)

Happy Thursday, friends!!

Today, I am mostly thankful for knowing that Jesus will return, that He has won the victory, that no matter how things go here on earth, there are truly wonderful things ahead for us!!  I'm grateful for this eternal hope we have through Christ, the only hope strong enough to be an anchor for our souls! ❤

I am also thankful for:

1. Meghan Markle and Harry sharing their story in the interview with Oprah... for the record, I've always been a fan of Meghan and am even moreso now, and I love that Harry valued his wife and child over his title and royal perks.  The world needs more honorable men who are clear on what actually matters most.  For Meghan to experience such deep loss and grief, to be unjustly villainized then fully dismissed and unsupported by the family, to feel a dark level of hopelessness and sadness that led her to consider suicide, feeling unheard and unseen and trapped in a freaking ridiculous system that prioritizes the family image and power over everything else, including the hearts and recovery of the actual human beings inside that family... from my limited life experience, every bit of that is incredibly hard.  And it should be obvious that no position or amount of wealth makes you immune to grief or to the emotional pain inflicted by the carelessness of others - I wish people were less ignorant about that - yikes.  Meghan was facing all of the above on a global scale with constant press coverage and expectations of feigning happiness no matter how she was treated, even as her unborn child was being pre-judged and bullied and demoted based on blatant racism and concerns for the ever-precious family image.  GTFO.  I really don't understand how anyone sides against them here.  I am thankful they shared their story, as it might help empower others to leave terrible situations.  I will only ever applaud people who find the courage and strength to respectfully walk away from toxic relational situations with people who claim to love them while their actions tell a verrrry different story, being willing to let go of every manipulative perk trying to tie them down and keep them quiet!!!  Seriously, bye, Felicia... best wishes and warmest regards to the royal fam in their stuffy white palace.  I love seeing these two break free from that mess, and I wish them nothing but joy and love and a more supportive and protective circle surrounding them as life moves forward.  Yas, queen!! ❤ I'm hoping more Republicans and Christians will take note that we do not ever have to sacrifice our voices and be blindly loyal to fear-based systems intent on maintaining their power at any cost - gracious, we need more Beth Moore's with the courage to confront blatant sin and stand up to abuses of power even if it means a smaller crowd. #respect  Anyway, this could've possibly been its own post. lol  ...To sum up:  I am thankful for women of courage and the men who love, honor, and support them!!

2.  Some quality time with the niece and nephews this weekend... watching Kyndal Faith's volleyball game (cuteness, and they won), an eventful and semi-overwhelming trip to the pet store at Jace's persistent request - lol, chatting with T-man in the car, and getting to see Carter's treasured shoe collection when we brought them back home. lol

3.  Nostalgia and reminiscing.  Mom and I looked through the black box full of old photos, and there were so many gems in there... I may do a separate post with more of them.  This = my 1997 Christmas program attire, which I remember loving, right down to the red shoes.  I also love that it was taken on Dad's old Polaroid camera! lol

4.  It was nice getting to visit Babah again at Virginia's this past weekend with Mom and JoBug.  Babah was in good spirits but still struggling with some confusion and unable to walk on her own.  Virginia made a pecan pie for us, and it cracked me up that JoBug ate right up to the crust line while Mom picked off the big pecans, then they silently traded plates to finish the other's pie at the end. lol  And speaking of reminiscing, it made me pretty happy to see this collage of cousin pics (me, Rach, Blake, and Emily) that we made for Babah several years ago hanging in her room!

5.  Getting to catch up with Elizabeth over Mexican food at Hidalgo's!  Fun times, even though she had a bad headache that day, which she kept assuring me was not because of my long stories. Lolol

6.  A Sunday dinner with the Wilsons and Shoemakers, which marked the first time I have actually tried ribs and shucked corn. lol  We had ribs, bread, corn on the cob, mac n' cheese, brownies, and ice cream - yum!  It was fun times catching up with them and hanging out with Tate, who wanted me to hold the tunnel at the top of the couch so it could be a makeshift slide! lol

7.   The joy of receiving kindness and ongoing birthday gifts (including these Barbee cookies from Laura and a spa gift basket from Lindsay)!  I'm always happy to have my birthday celebrations last a full month! lol ;-)

That's all for today.  Hope you have a lovely day and find lots of things to be thankful for this week!
