Labor Day with Holly Dei

The first weekend of September was Labor Day, and Holly Dei came to visit from Thursday to Tuesday!  She flew in and out of Tulsa, but we spent most of the weekend with the fam in MWC.

We had dinner Friday night at Packard's downtown with Rachael and Megan, the old CHA gang.  This was a pre-dinner pic at Mom and Dad's.

And one with the Parrish kids!

On Saturday, Holly and I joined Paul for a boat ride on Lake Draper!  (My first time at that lake so close to Mom and Dad's house).

It was a beautiful day, but we were going fast enough to scare me, especially with all of Mom's anti-lake stories.  After I insisted on getting a lifejacket (I was the only one but I so don't care), the boat ride was much more fun and peaceful!

We stopped for a bit to chat and have some snacks (wine, cheese, grapes, strawberries, and crackers). It somehow failed to occur to me that I get seasick, so I was slightly nauseous with the rocking boat and getting worried about that, but I didn't throw up, so I'm calling the day a success!  It was entertaining listening to Holly and Paul.

He taught us to drive the boat.  I only drove for a tiny minute, but still fun that I tried it! lol

This pic makes me laugh!

We had to help pull another stranded boat in to the dock area... Holly caught the line they threw over and was super proud of herself! lol

Holly had dinner with her parents that night, then Judy brought her over.  We chatted and looked at some of Holly's travel pics whilst Mom and I baked a 3-layer chocolate cake (something Holly had talked about being a first-tier dessert). lol

Sunday was a relaxing pool day, and Kate and Evelyn came to join us!

Me and the kids swimming! (T-man was at Nate's house)

This one turned out great!

I had to join the group photo!

Me and the mini Miss K!

It was a really nice summer day and a good way to "end" the summer season!

J&K read to Holly and Megan.  Holly was coaching and judging them as if it were a college presentation, but they did an excellent job even with that extra pressure!

Mom made us some tasty desserts, along with strawberries and dip + chips and queso.

Carter Lee and Mamaw!

At Holly's request, we went to Ted's for dinner.  There was a 50-minute wait and sub-par service, but the food was still good!  (Rach, Jace, Kate, and Evelyn left early and had burgers to go so that the baby could go to sleep on time.) This is during our long wait...

Taking fun selfies with Holly's phone while she was out of the room. lol

One last group pic on Sunday night!  After the Parrishes went home, we all chatted around the kitchen table for a while then finally went to bed after midnight.

Monday was a lengthy game of Uno with Holly and the kids (where Holly paid Carter $20 to help keep me from winning -- mess).

After that, Holly and I went back to Tulsa, where we Doordashed Chinese food and watched Indian Matchmaker on Netflix.  She left just after I went to work the next day.  All in all, a fun and memorable weekend!  Her visit in March was at the very beginning of the pandemic, so we were hoping her visit this time would signal the end.  No such luck so far. lol
