There's no place like home!
After six long days in ICU and two days in a regular hospital room, Dad came home on Sunday!! ❤ Saint Anthony's had a policy where no children under 16 are allowed in the hospital, so the kids were all excited to see him! (I know a week isn't that long for most kids not to see their Grandpa, but he's a daily presence in their lives, so it was long for them.)
As you can already see above, they sent him home with a prescription for oxygen. The pneumonia hit him hard, and his oxygen levels still drop pretty quickly when he goes off of oxygen. The hope is that he will only have to use this for a couple weeks as he recovers and gets his strength back.
Mom and I came to get him around 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Mom waited with the car at the entrance, and I came upstairs to help carry his stuff as the nurse brought him down. And to snap a couple pictures because that's just what I do. lol
The mini Miss K worked hard to make this whole posterboard for Grandpa all by herself... impressive, right!? I love her heart and sweet spirit and creative talent! ❤
We wanted to celebrate Carter's graduation at home too since we had a party for Triston's (HERE), but this pic pretty much covers the celebration. lol A card and some $$ from me and Mamaw and Grandpa, and a tasty cookiecake! JoBug was going to join us but got confused about the schedule and forgot. And we couldn't get a fun outdoor pic this time because it rained THE ENTIRE DAY yesterday. But oh well. He's happy about the extra cash and gift card, and we all enjoyed the cookiecake!
This pic makes me happy! T-man jumped into this pic with Rach and Carter at the last minute purely to annoy Carter (which it definitely did), but T looks so celebratory and happy for his brother! LOL
Carter is trying to start a lawn mowing business this summer... he was so happy to show me his first business card! Love it!
I drove back Monday afternoon and went to the Wilson home for a fun fajita dinner party, where I insisted on a group pic! =)
Ellie Faye and Kelly Marie and Parker Elizabeth!
JEM with the football baby hold pose! lol
Harvey wasn't too sure about me. Love his little suspenders!
Sweetness! My Lindsey and Parker selfies are adding right up already. lol
Fire Chief Tate led us in an adorable prayer before dinner! Chet told us it was time to pray and Tate said, "I wanna pray!!" I love that. ❤
Since it was a fajita dinner, we had to watch the Friends clip of Ross "making FAJITAS" and toasting to "L-O-V-E, love" when he was "totally fine!" lol
Chet Lee and Jeffrey grilled chicken and steak, Karli made air fryer veggies, and Kelly brought the rice. (I grabbed chips and queso and salsa on my way there, and the Shoemakers brought Chick-Fil-A lemonade and tea!) It was all really good!
Karli also made Paula Deen's peach cobbler recipe - YUM! Yay, Peach Truck peaches. lol
And finally, here's a quick look back at some Memorial Day fun from yesteryear... the first two pics are 2016 - a summer swim at JoBug's pool celebrating Babah's 80th birthday + one of my fav pics of the four kids. Then Dole whip with Kelly and holding one of their chickens (for the first and only time). lol
And this one was Memorial Day of 2017, the day we traveled from Niagara Falls to NYC and ended the day with a fun dinner at Junior's, an amazing restaurant known for their cheesecake, across the street from our hotel in Times Square! (Bill was mad about his credit card being frozen in Canada and Jill having to pay for everything. lol) I'm such a fan of Bill and Jill and have so many wonderful memories from that trip... Dad's hospital stay this year makes me feel extra thankful for all the good memories I have with my parents!
And that's all I've got for today. Hope your June is off to a good start!
