Thankful Thursday! (107)

"Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world, you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world." ~John 16:33*

*That's part of Jesus' long talk with His disciples the night before He was crucified.  This is Holy Week, and Annie Downs has been reading Scripture on her podcast, going through the gospel verses that offer the day-by-day account of Jesus' life in the week leading up to His crucifixion and resurrection.  It's been really good to listen and think about.

Side note:  I'm sure people mean well, but my current pet peeve is the memes some Christians are posting that flippantly compare their current financial insecurity, loneliness, or sickness to Jesus' anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane over His impending torture, heartbreak, and unjust death... things like, "This was a tough week for Jesus, too, but just look at how things turned out!" *eyeroll* Yes, your struggles matter, and yes, Jesus cares about whatever concerns you... but please make that ridiculous comparison STOP already.

Okay, rant over.
Today, I am thankful for:

1.  A happy visit from Tiffany during my morning at the courthouse today!  I asked for a pic since her t-shirt made me happy. lol  (I am also deeply grateful for job security and peace, and praying for those who are hurting there.)

2.  God's Word... I got my Amplified Bible back out this week, and I am thankful for the way the Holy Spirit can speak to our hearts and illuminate the things we need to see day by day!

3.  Healthy-ish snacks. lol  I'm throwing in a lot more apples, asparagus, clementines, sweet potatoes, and celery this week, and that's a win right now! =)

4.  The joy of summery pictures... Mom and Dad's pool officially opened yesterday, and the kids didn't waste any time!  That water has to be soooo crazy cold right now, but they didn't seem to mind much, and it brightened my day up to see these pics! =)

5.  My new hallway rug - I let a Facebook ad pull me in again when I ordered this, but I'm a big fan! =)

6.  Again for audiobooks!!  Not sure what shifted this year, but I'm spending a lot of my free time soaking in new books, and it's good!  This change started before the pandemic - I finished six in the month of February, and I've added nine more to my list since then (currently listening through Atomic Habits and Rising Strong - finished the others in March).

7.  The Coursera class I mentioned in my previous post.  My top 3 strengths according to their quiz were kindness, appreciation of beauty and excellence, and prudence!

Happy Thursday, friends and fam, and I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend ahead!! ❤

Here's a fun meme to end on. ;-)
