If not for the global pandemic, today would be the first full day of touring Washington D.C. with Triston Michael and his class!! And right in the heart of their famous cherry blossom season! ❤
I'd be spending quality time with my nephew and taking lots of pics of the sixth graders by the reflecting pool and the Washington monument, etc.!
Touring Mount Vernon and thinking of Hamilton lyrics and National Treasure as we talk about the Founding Fathers all through the trip!
Visiting the Lincoln Memorial again (as an adult with more appreciation for the way he changed history).
I was also excited about the idea of visiting the Bible Museum for the first time!
In addition to all the historical value and nephew time, I know seeing the rows of cherry blossom trees would delight my soul!! lol I will have to plan a future Spring trip to D.C. at some point.
(*There's talk of a possible rescheduled trip this summer, but I think it's unlikely that things will reopen on that level by summer. And I'll probably be needed more than usual at work with the crazy amount of cases we'll have backlogged!)
Finally, on our last day there, Triston and I were gonna take an Uber to visit the National Cathedral before heading to the airport for our flight home! (Per Jeffrey Edward's suggestion - I've never been, but it looks beautiful!) Another must see for a future D.C. trip!!
Aww, what might've been...
(The fam's State Farm reward trip to Disney World in July has also been cancelled, but now we can reschedule for sometime not in the crazy dead heat of summer, so that's really a bonus!) As for my Alaska cruise, that remains to be seen. Cruises are suspended for most of the summer, but may be available by September if we still want to go at that point. We shall see. Either way, there'll be plenty of time for travel in the future! For now, there are higher priorities and simpler joys, and I'm very okay with that.
I hope you are well and having a good weekend! ❤
