This weekend, Dad grabbed a wallet for Jace to play with out of one of his drawers, and in the process, he pulled out a random stack of old family photos that I promptly looked through and documented with my phone!
This = the marvelous Muecke fam on Christmas Day in 1990!! That was my first grade year, and just two days before I prayed to be saved!! I'm 99% certain me or Rach made the lovely cloth and bead necklace Mom is wearing. lol
This = the uncropped version of that pic, and so many things stand out to me here. The Santa on the fireplace hearth (before we stopped using Santa in our Christmas decor), the old folding chair looking pretty new at that point, our "Look what Lindsey/Rachael made" crayon-shaped magnets on the fridge, the gold clock on the wall, the store-bought Christmas bow back before Mom learned to make better ones herself, the little blue breakfast table in the kitchen that me and Rach used then and J&K use now, my epic side ponytail and our awesome '90s bangs Mom had undoubtedly curling ironed that morning, and mostly the fact that Grandad Doc was there with the fam in our kitchen that Christmas!! (I have so few memories of those days... he eventually became reclusive and paranoid after a terrible break-in and near-death beating, and it was very rare for us to see or have much interaction with him. Sad.)
This = December of 1981, so that'd be Mom and Dad's first Christmas as a married couple, pre-children. They had their sheltie dog named Rodney, and Mom framed this pic of him as a gift for Dad, proving that photo gifts have been a family tradition since before I was born! =)
Celebrating Christmas in 1997 (7th grade year for me, 5th for Rach) at the Peavler's house!! Makes me pretty happy that I'm sporting a Nike sweatshirt and Rach has an Atlanta '96 Olympics t-shirt on! =) Kerri Strug for the win!! lol
These are in kind of a strange order, but whatever. This one is from Christmas of 1985... so Mom was pregnant with Rach, and that February, I would get a baby sister and be turning 2 years old. I remember that Mickey Mouse doll, and I like that I'm in my fun Santa shirt getting tons of toys and gifts! Had this been taken today, we could've checked the digital screen and taken another one with Dad's eyes open and Mom looking at the camera... but such was life back in the days of film rolls. Always a mystery and fun surprise seeing how your photos turned out. lol
This one didn't have a year on it, but obviously a bit more recent. I'm guessing around 2003 or so. A lovely family Christmas at 9121!
This would appear to be Rachael's first Christmas, so I would've been 3 years old. I love that Dad's filming our Christmas shenanigans with the camcorder.
Also not dated, but another good one of my parents, likely Mom about to open a gift from Dad. =)
Moving on to summer pics, these were from July of 1986. Mom and Grandad chatting while Babah took 5-month-old Rach out for a little swim, then Dad in the pool pulling me around on the raft... and I'm guessing some older cousins there swimming with us? This was the pool with the slide at our 304 Three Oaks house, and I know I've had some weird flashback-style memories of that pool and wooden deck! It also makes me think of the outdoor picnic table, the tennis-shoe-shaped telephone, and Babah's butterscotch pudding!
And finally, a random brothers pic of Dad and Gus from July of 1988. =)
That's all for this post - just wanted to document those pics and thoughts here. =)
Hope you're having a lovely Wednesday! We are back open but being super-cautious everywhere at the courthouse this week, and I just took my first record in 11 weeks this morning!! I'm planning to write later today with other pics from this weekend!
