Yay, Therapy!

Lol probably not my best blog title, but it will help me remember where to find this post. =)

These are two short-but-powerful videos with great illustrations on the value of therapy, so I'm saving them for future reference.

Worth two minutes of your time!

I also saved this quote today, then quickly realized it wasn't a great quote for a future counselor to share out of context...
"Try not to pay attention to those who will try to make life miserable for you.  Avoid telling stories about the unjust treatment you received at their hands... What your foes do derives its significance or consequence from the way YOU react...  It's the echo that counts.  Therefore, steal, or still, the echo... rush through or past them as though they were yellow and not red lights.  Don't linger on them mentally or verbally." ~J. Brodsky

For all our minor complaints or petty infractions, I love the advice of moving forward without dwelling on it or talking about it in a cyclical way that makes it live on and grow into a far bigger deal than it would've been.  Some personalities try to use that philosophy for any hard/painful event, which quickly leads into numbing strategies and unhealthy behaviors.  For legit abuse or trauma or real injustice, repressing our emotions and holding onto the pain is NOT the same as quietly moving past it (see videos above) ...by all means, seek out a safe friend or family member or therapist where you can say those hard things out loud and start to process it in a healthy way and lighten your internal load - for the sake of your own healing and wholeness and freedom!! Yay, therapy! ;-)

Okay, now it's lunch time - huzzah!
