Praying for Israel

 ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Please join me in praying today for the immediate safety and the eternal salvation of the Israelites, a people chosen and esteemed by God, and thus repeatedly targeted and viciously attacked by Satan.  Praying that God would rise up in protective strength and come to their defense.  Praying that innocent lives on both sides of this conflict would be spared and delivered from evil and harm.  I cannot say it better than David or Paul, so I'll let Scripture speak for itself and bear witness to God's heart for His people... in the midst of news that is disheartening and inhumane and cruel, let's never forget that God's Word is living and active, His promises hold true, His love is unfailing, and His power is unmatched!

“Redeem Israel, O God, out of all their troubles.”
~Psalm 25:22 ❤

“With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness.  My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it.  My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters…  They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God’s adopted children.  Theirs is the adoption to sonship, the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.  To them belong the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised…
The longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved.  I know what enthusiasm they have for the honor of God, but it is misdirected zeal.  For they don’t understand that Christ has died to make them right with God.  Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law...  And if the people of Israel turn from their unbelief, they will be grafted in again, for God has the power to graft them back into the tree.”
~Paul (Romans 9:1-5, 10:1-3, 11:23)

“O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.  Don’t You hear the tumult and commotion of Your enemies?  Don’t You see what they are doing, these proud men who hate the Lord?  They are making secret plans against Your people; they are plotting against those You protect.  'Come,' they say, 'let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.'  With one mind they plot together - they signed a treaty to ally themselves against Almighty God…  Utterly disgrace them until they submit to Your name, O Lord.  May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace.  Let them know that You, whose name is the Lord - that You alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth.”
~Psalm 83:1-18
