Happy Monday, gang! Happier than usual, thanks to it being a short week. ;) Yay for Thanksgiving!!
So here is my promised health and Weight Watchers update. I joined WW on 11-12, so I've been officially on their program for 11 days, and in that time, I've lost 11 pounds!! What what!? #awesomesauce I weighed in just before lunch today. My weekly weigh-ins will be on Mondays at noon at a WW meeting in a church really near the courthouse! Anyway, yay Weight Watchers and yay me!!
For this Thanksgiving week, my main concern is simply writing it all down and staying within my points range! Which feels very doable. And I'm so glad! I know that weight usually comes off quickly in the beginning, and it will likely slow down quite a bit now. But slow and steady will be okay since I'm committing to it. I want to go all the way and become a Lifetime member. It's a well-designed and very adaptable program, and even more than before, I believe I can do this!
Things I've Learned So Far:
- The Points+ system is surprisingly easy to follow, and even when you eat your max number of points, it works!
- iPhones have made Weight Watchers so much better for people who take advantage of it... there is an app to track everything right on your phone, as well as a scanner app that tells you the Points value of anything in the grocery store when you scan the barcode.
- The Chipotle burrito bowl is the way to go... the tortilla alone adds 6 points, and it doesn't make that much difference!
- Plan ahead whenever possible (tracking it ahead of time helps me stick to the plan). But if I'm going to a buffet or Thanksgiving feast, then I take a picture of my plate and track everything later. :)
- Huzzah for WW Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Bars for 1-point!! I went to Reasors after 9 one night because I only had 1 point left and was craving chocolate - I was so glad to find those, and they're legitimately good! #winning
- All chips are surprisingly high -- I say skip them and use those points on chocolate, but to each their own!
- Points-wise, Bueno is far worse than I expected and Chick-Fil-A is surprisingly better than expected (especially if you'll skip the fries for a fruit cup)!
- Staying up past midnight triggers cravings for me when my daily points are already gone, so all the more reason to go to bed at a decent time!
- There's almost no drink that's worth wasting points on. Yay, water! (But if ever I'm craving a hot chocolate or icee, I can have it.)
- The meetings are better than anticipated. Weight accountability and encouragement, good reminders on healthy habits, happy star-stickers and applause for every 5-lb loss, and lots of people who love food strategizing about making the most of our points! lol
Okay, that's all about that subject for now. But I'll update again when I reach 25 pounds, if not before!!
In other news... here's Rach and the Jaceman in his new Spiderman hoodie - he can see through the mesh eyes, but he still pulls it up for a minute whenever he's talking to you. Cuteness!!
And here's me and the Missy K in her sparkly "Trend setter" hoodie - she likes to see herself in the mirror, so I figured a mirror selfie would be appropriate! :) #preshface
Josh cheering T-man on in the ropes course at The Main Event (my first trip there was on Josh's bday this Saturday.) #embracethenew
It was a pretty cool place... we ate pizza as we bowled, then I got to play LaserTag with the nephews - so much fun - then they did this ropes course thing!! I think this pic is Carter - they were dressed alike. :)
Finally, yesterday, I slept in, went to LifeChurch, then came to cheer for Leah as she finished her first FULL marathon here in Tulsa! So that was exciting!!
Then I had a healthy dinner at Sarah's followed by a movie (Love, the Coopers - don't bother seeing it!) Tonight is Panera with Lindsay and Talhia then baking a sheet cake for tomorrow, which is our Italian Friends-gibbing dinner at Chet and Karli's -- it promises to be awesome!! =) #yayflexpointsThis is longer than I intended. Oh, well. Hope you have a lovely day today!
