Top 10 Reasons to Love Planet Fitness! =)
1. The bright purple and yellow COLORS everywhere makes it a fun, energizing atmosphere... and often makes me think of Mom (those are her favorite two colors)! Then their "thumbs up" logo makes me think of Chet... and makes me laugh when I remember JEM and Chet's very brief experience as PF members!! ;-)
2. The PRICE is unbeatable! It's a nice gym that's open 24/7, and it's $10 a month... or $20 a month if you want free tanning, massage, and red light therapy... yes, please!! (Plus you get a free T-shirt when you sign up, which I've worn a lot now! lol)
3. Cheesy, but I love that they market it as a "JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE" and that all their equipment has the phrase "You Belong" printed on it! (And I really don't feel like anyone else there cares what I look like or what I'm doing, so long as I'm not deathly ill and coughing all over everything. Quite the change from my time at Lifetime.) ...On the night of the first republican debates, after around 2 hours of cardio, I got an awful foot cramp whilst in the peaceful massage chair. I had to pull my tennis shoe off right there, then awkwardly hobble back to the locker room. So I was thankful to look up and see the "Judgement Free Zone" sign that day! lol
4. Umm, the MASSAGE CHAIRS and HYDRO-MASSAGE, aka the Relaxation Zone!! Awesomesauce. Always a treat after working out. (Or before - hey, it's judgement free! lol)

5. RED LIGHT THERAPY and free TANNING! The RLT is a stand-up capsule with a shake-plate like those machines I always try at the fair, so it's a mini-muscle workout and the red light helps with stretch marks, cellulite, etc. It really does work, but you have to do it 3 times a week for lasting results. #worthit And I haven't used the tanning much, but it's nice that it's there and it's free when I want to try it. (Is it weird that I automatically avert my eyes away from the UV lights, even when looking at this picture? lol)
6. The fact that the staff doesn't hassle you or hound you about anything. I don't know how to phrase this exactly, but it might be my favorite thing about PF. A friendly "hello" when I come in and "have a nice day" when I leave is all I need from them. lol BEING IGNORED and left alone to work out as I please and buy something new or sign up for personal training whenever I'm in the mood!!
7. Finding random TOOTSIE ROLLS in your purse. lol Another post-workout treat. ;-) They have a bucket of tootsie rolls at the front desk, (it was Halloween candy yesterday), and I always applaud free chocolate! And let's not forget PIZZA MONDAYS! The first Monday of every month, they have tons of free pizza there. I forgot about it yesterday, so that was a fun surprise. I text Laura the pizza pic with the caption "Gym Time!" lol #ridiculousness
8. Now, about the actual working out... :) they have so many CARDIO machines (elliptical, treadmill, bike, arc trainer, stair climber), all with a slot for your headphones, and there are lots of TV channels going. I like that I can listen to my Run playlist or podcasts whilst half-watching several different shows at once!
9. My favorite workout is the 30-MINUTE CIRCUIT!! There's a one-minute green light followed by a 30-second red light, and you move through 10 different weight training machines and 10 step exercises, taking 30 second breaks in between. It works every muscle group and throws in some cardio. Yay!
10. Last but not least, coming from a bit of a germophobe, I appreciate that they keep it CLEAN! The bathroom and locker rooms are always nice, and that's not the case with all gyms, especially when the membership is that cheap. So yay for that!
And I didn't even mention Bagel Tuesdays or the 12-Minute Abs workout or free personal training! lol I really am a fan, and now that my bronchitis/cough/crazy-wheezing has mostly gone away, I'm determined to get back into it!! =)
And in honor of this post, my current favorite cardio song and song of the week = Sweeter by Gavin DeGraw!! #loveit
Happy Tuesday!
