Yale vs. Harvard

Of course, this post has absolutely nothing to do with the schools or their sports teams.  I'm talking about my two favorite hoodies ever! :)  Making this possibly the most ridiculous of all my tribute posts. lol

I bought my Yale hoodie exactly 10 years ago today!!
(And still wear it regularly and love it.)

(I know this thanks to old journals and pictures and me generally being quirky and caring about crap like this. lol)  Exactly 10 years ago today, I traveled to Connecticut with Joshua Michael to visit Holly Dei, who was a new student at Yale that year!  We toured the campus and bookstore, and I bought my happy Yale hoodie. The next day (11-19-2005), I wore it for the first time when we all went to the Harvard/Yale football game... see, here's a pic of Josh with several of the Yale cheerleaders.
(Side note:  I deleted so many pictures from that era when I was in my heartbroken angry phase, and in the midst of searching through Photobucket, Flickr, old emails, etc., I stumbled across a 2006 email with an attachment containing my entire Xanga blog... epic win!  So entertaining to look back through!!)

Anyway, back to Yale vs. Harvard.  Between me, Josh, and Holly, there was roughly 0% interest in that football game. lol  I've always loved the atmosphere at games, though, and the entire time I was at Yale, I felt like Rory in Gilmore Girls... and it was fun being in the middle of all the Yale students as they played against their big rival.  It was a super cold day, so we all huddled together under a blanket, then Josh eventually fell asleep on my shoulder... I had Holly take a picture which I can no longer find but can still see perfectly in my mind... and I remember thinking right then that that would be my favorite hoodie ever! lol  Ridiculous reasoning at that moment, but I was right. =)

It's joined me in several fun trips and events and cozy late night talks and memories with family and friends, past and present.  It's my go-to warm, comfy, cozy, brown and beige hoodie, and it's one of few items in my closet that I feel a real sentimental attachment to. (I would put a heart emoticon here if blogger would let me.) :)  I love winter and coziness and hoodies in general, but this one is the favorite!

First Runner-Up goes to the Harvard hoodie, which I bought at the Harvard bookstore on our senior class trip to Boston in 2002 and wore regularly for at least 10 years.  It's falling apart a bit now, 13 year later, but it's still nice for loungy days at home, and I have no plans to get rid of it.
So there's my random tribute to my two favorite hoodies.  And to cold weather and cozy winter memories!

On a completely different note, my song of the week = Great is Thy Faithfulness by Jordan Smith on the Voice.  My new wake-up alarm song.  So great!!
