Katherine Claire (Photo Friday!)

Happy one-week birthday to my honorary niece, Miss Katherine Claire, who I finally got to meet this week!!  I signed up for the Meal Train on 7-7 because I'm cheesy like that, then I suggested the Wilson fam sign up for the 12th so we can all be there to celebrate Sarah's birthday. lol  Yay! ❤

Baby Kate was very precious in her little pink outfit and gray booties!  I held her for a while and heard all about the birth story and their first few days of parenting... it's been a struggle at times with some unexpected complications, but overall, they're doing great!  She's starting to gain some weight back, and the breastfeeding is getting a little easier for her and Sarah, so that's happy news!

Newborns are so tiny and precious, and they also feel fragile and floppy in a way that sometimes scares me (note her floppy head in the pic with her Mom below). Wednesday was the first time in my memory that I've picked up a newborn from their bassinet without someone handing them to me... not as hard or scary as I expected, so that's promising. lol

We ate our Ted's takeout and talked a bit, then I filled out a little certificate they had for her with faux-calligraphy while they started the 8:30 feeding. It was really good to talk to them and see their pictures and hear more of their stories!  I always care about the details, and I'm thankful to have friends who are really comfortable with me and who want me to be involved in their kids' lives! =)
