Anthony Update + Nursery Pics

Baby Anthony is still in the hospital today... slowly recovering and getting better - please keep him and his family in your prayers... hospital stays are always miserable and exhausting, but especially when the patient is so small and helpless!  He had a surgery that connected his liver to his intestines, as I understand it.  He has spent more of his first three months of life in the hospital than at home, but his jaundice is getting much better and his liver is able to function properly now.  Praise God!!
His life truly is a miracle story and a gift from God!  And he is constantly surrounded by people who love him at the hospital, which I know will help him stay strong!

Anyway, they've been in the hospital for over two weeks at this point... and my Mom (who is awesome!) had the idea to go in and paint and decorate his nursery room.  (That spiraled into cleaning, painting, and decorating several other rooms in their house... as Mom's projects tend to do. lol  But she had lots of help from me, Charlene, Dad, Alan, Al, and Hillary.)  I came home last Tuesday to help with the canvases for the nursery... it's a camouflage theme, so we placed cardboard letters over it, then drizzled paint in those colors... easy enough, and it turned out great!

Then we did the Browning Deer symbol for this one... I can tell his neck is too short, but other than that, it turned out pretty good! :)  (And in case you were concerned by the picture, the frame is tan, not pink. lol)

Mom did the shapes canvases and I drew the heartbeat line at the bottom - I don't know, it seemed appropriate.

This is a little name plate we made for him... I really love that his first name means "Priceless!"

This is one of a set of four collage pics we put in their living room.  (This one has the "fearfully and wonderfully made" verse from Psalm 139, and I love it!!)

This is in their living room... (we thought they'd get to come home sooner - they've already seen all this but will still be at the hospital a bit longer) ...anyway, we covered the tabletop in chalkboard paint, and it's possibly my favorite thing about the house!  I just love the idea that they can draw or write little messages to each other or whatever they want right there, or erase it all and have a nice black table.  :)

This is the shelf we bought for the nursery.  With the long hospital stay after he was born followed by a move to a new house followed by another surgery and hospital stay, Kristin had never had time to go through all her baby shower gifts, so Mom and Hillary went through and organized them and put all this together!

I love things like this!  Doing something real and tangible to help out and brighten their day a bit when you know someone you love is overwhelmed and struggling.  We did the same thing at JoBug's house when Blake was having surgery in California.  I know it doesn't change the situation or make the pain go away, but I believe God uses little words and acts of kindness to go a long way in lifting people's spirits, as much for the giver as the recipient!!  Hopefully they'll get to come home soon and will be able to rest instead of feeling stressed about all they have to do!

"May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace!"
~Numbers 6:24-26
