Today's 'tribute' post goes to Nathan Fulks...
He's been part of the Diving Deeper Lifegroup for several years now... in the beginning, he seemed really quiet, but he's surprisingly talkative at group now! He's our official timekeeper and makes sure we start right at 7:30. lol He has some great insights to share, along with some unique and entertaining opening questions. I gotta say, his personality and sense of humor totally crack me up!
Side note: In personality, mannerisms, and style (meaning the graphic t-shirts and the ever-present baseball cap), he has always reminded me of Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls (only Luke does flannel shirts instead)! :)
Things that make me laugh: He rarely smiles or looks directly at the camera in pictures, but always does the peace sign or thumbs up so you know he wasn't just caught off guard. lol (Sometimes he does that all at once....)
He never spell checks anything he puts on Facebook, which results in some hilarious comments + corrections by Chet. He says funny-but-awkward things, like "Prepare for a taste bud explosion tonight!!" when he baked a cake for LG. lol He sometimes stays focused on a topic after others have moved on, especially with food-related subjects... like if a group has a short conversation about our favorite salad dressing, then we move on and talk about three or four other topics, then he suddenly chimes in with another random comment about the salad dressing. lol It's happened a few times and is always hilarious! Pretty sure he's not hearing anything we've said in between. He's also kinda terrible at remembering names... like the "Marjorie," "Marla," "Melanie" incident! lol And he didn't know how to pronounce my last name until very recently, hence my nickname "Mockey."
(Him as a "dangerous trucker" for Halloween.)
On a more serious note -
He has a sincere heart for God, he is consistent and dependable, and he's very willing to go out of his way for others! He is always there and goes for the heaviest things when anyone from LG needs help moving... he goes to Aberdeen Heights (assisted living center) to volunteer most Saturdays... and he's been at every Micromission, even if he can't remember which one was Habitat for Humanity (Chet: "Uh, the one where we BUILT THE HOUSE!" lol)
(Pic = our group helping with the Joplin tornado last year)
I also appreciate that he doesn't expect the woman to be the pursuer in a relationship. He was the only man who spoke up on that side of the issue when women were encouraged to drop blatant hints so that men would know whether they should ask them out, telling the men to just man up. He believes and lives out that Christian men should step up and be men who lead (in their relationships, service projects, etc.). McAwesome, indeed. lol
Back to the sense of humor, this is his current FB profile pic, with the tagline "I'm bringing fanny back!" LOL I love it. So hooray for Nathan... also known as Nate-dawg, Bear (because he 'hibernates' during Winter), and my favorite nickname by Chet: "Nater-tot!" =)
