Thankful Thursday #146

"They may curse me, but You will bless me.
When they attack, they will be humiliated,
but Your servant will rejoice...
I will thank the Lord profusely;
in the middle of a crowd I will praise Him."
~Psalm 109:28-30

Today I am thankful for:

1.  Dad's life and legacy, and getting to celebrate his birthday last night!

2.  Delish OSU-themed cookiecake with chocolate icing... something me and Dad appreciate more than the others. lol

3.  My preshface niece who I could not love more if I tried!  She got so excited telling me about a waterpark ride last night, and her joy and enthusiasm were contagious!

When I asked her favorite flower later, she thought for a second and then said "Bluebells!"  And I thought it was a lovely and very original Mini Miss K kind of answer! ❤

4.  A job with downtime where I can bring tennis shoes and take short walking breaks in the middle of work!  (And keep this blog updated). lol

5.  My summery new yellow dress - I was feelin' cute and had to take a bathroom selfie. lol  On that note, I'm also thankful for having a clean staff-only bathroom just across from my office!

6.  Knowing that we are all masterpieces being shaped and formed by God... but we're also all currently works in progress in various stages of transformation! ❤  I've been thinking in construction metaphors lately thanks to watching my house being built. =)

7.  The joy I find in looking through old photos! =)

Here are a few "Throwback Thursday" pics for you...

Kristin's Graduation party 2005... Rach, Ashley, me (tanner than usual), Kristin, Amber, and Jayme in our old 9121 kitchen dining room!  Not sure why Heather's not in the pic with us, but yay for a girl cousins pic!

Rocking the denim on denim with a sweater vest for a classic Olan Mills sister pic in 1994!

And finally, a yesteryear Christmas pic of JoBug and Mom by the tree with their chihuahua dog! =)

That's all for now.

"May our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven!"

Birthday + Home News

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Dad today!!  I'm thankful to have grown up with a Dad who set a good example for our family in love,  joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control!  And I'm excited to celebrate with the fam and Bill and Jill tonight at Salt Grass Steakhouse! =)  (...I'm also already excited by the idea of celebrating his 40 years at State Farm and 70th birthday next August, Lord willing!!)  Here are some pictures through the years. =)

And one at his State Farm office today!

And in other news, I wanted to give you a quick update on my new home... this catchphrase quote from Avengers Endgame popped into my head when I was thinking about my address today, and it made me VERY HAPPY, because I'm cheesy like that! lol  (It's Iron Man and his daughter talking to each other, and he says he loves her a ton, then she responds saying she loves him "3000," then that is his final spoken line in the film he leaves behind for his family.)

Anyway, Rachel from Taber Homes texted yesterday to let us know that the official closing date will be October 21st... YAY!!  We were originally told "somewhere around Thanksgiving or Christmas," so this is definitely sooner than expected (allowing us to decorate for Christmas - huzzah!).  I'm grateful they're moving quickly and I'm happy to have a date set!

I haven't been by since last Friday, but they were done with the insulation that day.  Moving right along, and it's fun to watch it take shape!

My bricks are also outside, ready to go!  And the tan siding around the top three windows will become a pretty green (the color name is "gunmetal gray" but it's definitely more green).

So that's my big update for today - I get to decorate for Christmas my first year there - hooray.  Hope you have a lovely Wednesday!! ❤

Summer Fun + Monday Memes

Happy Monday, and Happy 1st day of August, friends!  So how many of us are using today as a fresh start for healthy eating and exercise habits!?  When the first day of a month falls on a Monday, it tends to inspire re-dedication. lol

Anyway, here are some happy summer pics and videos... starting with Jaceman and Axel doing a back dive together!  (Side note - I learned to make gifs from videos using Veed - yay!)

Kyndal Faith and Brynlee jumping with so much joy and cuteness!

Jace and Gideon doing a jackknife jump!

This Saturday, I had lunch with the Foster fam and was delighted to meet their kids... since the adoption isn't official yet, I don't think I'm supposed to post photos, but a few months down the road, you can expect to see those. =)

I also got to see Top Gun: Maverick again with Tiffany - fun - then Sarah Elizabeth joined us for dinner at Charleston's!  Fantastic food, and it was so good to catch up with both of them!!

I drove down early that morning to get my hair done with Janelle... thanks to moving and Covid and other scheduling issues, it had been six months, which is a record for me!  But it was a really fun appointment... she has branched out to start her own salon, and it's really cute!  She asked if I was okay with her playing worship music, and after years of mostly quiet hair appointments, that opened up a whole new line of conversation for us!  We talked about church, life transitions, family stuff, and more, and it made me happy that we could both celebrate the good things happening in each other's lives, and that she said she'd be praying for me and my future child! ❤

This mural also made me happy and feels like something I could change a bit and replicate for a nursery room someday! =)

New hair - it's feeling ruhl short and light to me, but the color is pretty, and it'll always grow back!

The Mini Miss K had her last volleyball game with this team on Thursday... they lost in round 3, but they still got a medal, so that cheered them up a bit! lol  Their coach took this team pic, and I was running over with my phone to get one too.....

Everyone popped up super fast after the coach moved her phone down, but I so love it that Kyndal Faith saw me and was still smiling and posing!  Preshface!

We went to Baked Bear last night... you can create a pretty awesome dessert with their brownies, cookies, ice cream, whipped cream, and loads of toppings... yum!

Between finishing the last of my homework around 11:30 last night, the amazing ice cream sandwiches, swimming, a fun Tulsa trip, and my new bob-cut hairdo, I'm feeling very light and summery today!  (But I also fully welcome and embrace the coming of Fall next month!) lol

And now, we shift into Monday Memes - I've collected approximately 1,000!!

I love the last line on this one -- "Knowing the end of the story doesn't mean you can't cry at the sad parts!" -- YES -- so true, in books and in life!!

How adorable are panda bears!?

Someone commented under this post "Take off the "yours" after sincerely, and this is perfect!"  And that made me laugh too! #accurate

That's all I've got for today... hope you have a fantastic month of August ahead!!

May we be encouraged in heart and united in love! ❤
