Olympic Memories

Just a quick break in the middle of our biggest felony Tuesday docket ever (52 pages - yikes!!) to pay tribute to my favorite Winter Olympic sport!  Here are three of my favorite Olympic figure skating memories, (if you don't count Tonya Harding's karma-filled tearful breakdown when her skates weren't properly laced).  There's so much grace and beauty in figure skating, and when you combine that with great music and compelling stories, it's hard to forget!  ❤
Nancy Kerrigan in 1994 -- even if you don't watch the entire thing, scroll to the end  of this routine -- her landing those jumps perfectly (just weeks after being brutally attacked in an effort to take out the competition) -- it was such a great moment, and you can feel the whole crowd's excitement and admiration as she completes a flawless routine!!  It's the Winter Olympic equivalent of the Kerri Strug vault!

Tara Lipinski in 1998 -- I so vividly remember this night - we had TIVO'd the program while we went out to eat with the Wallaces, and Mom knew who won, but was trying to let it be a surprise for me and Rach (we assumed Michelle Kwan, but I really loved Tara, who was closer to my age).  Then when it came up in conversation, Bill Wallace said, "Didn't the little bitty girl win!?" lol  We were so happy, then watching this back was super fun - I love her smile at the end!!

Jamie Sale and David Pelletier in 2002 -- who can forget the Canadian pair and the drama surrounding their medal win?  This = pure awesomeness!!

It's funny how Olympic moments and performances can stick with you!  I'm not quite as into it so far this year, but I did get Hulu Live for the month of February, just for the Super Bowl and the Olympics!! =)

Anywho, that's all for today's short and simple post.  Hooray for Galentine's Lifegroup tonight (our annual breakfast-for-dinner PJ party with chick flick movies) - get excited!!

Part 2

And now, a few things I forgot whilst churning out a quick post this morning:

There was a scene in Blue Bloods recently that I just loved. Frank was going to speak at his granddaughter Nicky's college, a liberal arts college where the students had very little respect for him as the Police Commissioner.  He came to speak, against the advice of his Chief of Staff, because he wanted to follow through on his word for Nicky's sake and be a good father figure in her life.  Then he was harshly booed off the stage before he could get a full sentence in... Later, at their weekly Reagan family dinner (those are usually my favorite scenes), he was a little down and wondering if she was embarrassed by him, then Nicky asked if she could say something, and she read this quote -- (one I already knew and loved, mostly thanks to Brene Brown) -- and Frank teared up, which never happens... The dynamic of him worrying that he had embarrassed her and her wanting to make sure he knew that she was proud of his service and who he is -- it was just a really meaningful and moving scene!!  This quote was the perfect choice for it:

In semi-related news, Tiffany and I saw a license tag that said "REAGAN" the other day, and she immediately said, "Oooh, Danny and Jamie!!"  I was confused, definitely thinking of President Ronald, and initially thinking "Danny and Jamie" sounded like a couple, as Jamie tends to register as more of a girl's name in my mind (but doesn't seem girly at all on Jamie Reagan, who is amazing and my favorite character on the show!)  Anyway, we laughed about that for a minute, and she said, "There are two kinds of people. Those who see that and think of the President, and those who go straight to Blue Bloods!" lol

One last Blue Bloods related thought:  I laughed out loud when Frank said, "You're listening to me, Sergeant, but you're not hearing me.... Fix that!" (Tom Selleck frump face). =)
_____________

Okay, moving on... Jace Michael's first basketball team pic - love it! =)
_____________

I got to see the Miss K and Jaceman for a tiny minute today. She was proud that she "won" this headband by doing a great job at dance!  ❤  So much cuteness.

_____________

I was sad to learn that John Mahoney (Martin Crane on Frasier) died this past weekend. =(  One of my favorite characters on one of my all-time favorite shows!

______________

FB "On This Day" has informed me that 11 years ago yesterday, about a month after moving to Tulsa, was the day I tried out a new LifeGroup led by Chad and Angie, who were engaged at that time... I didn't know anyone there, and I could not have possibly predicted how much that little step would change my life and how those people would become a lifeline for me through some really hard seasons!! The close friends in my life today are all people I've met through LifeGroups and LifeGroup connections, and I'm so grateful for them! ...Me and Bobbi and Kristin branched off to start a singles group called Diving Deeper in 2008, and I'm currently in a women's group that began as a branch off from that one!  I'm thankful for a strong community of friends, and so glad I took that scary step forward 11 years ago! ❤
_____________

Changing subjects once again, Mom is doing well at the moment. She has gone back and forth today, getting chills and shaking from feeling cold even with lots of sweaters and blankets on... then sometimes too hot and feverish.  Then just generally feeling weak and struggling to keep food down.  The flu this year is especially rampant and brutal, so I'm thankful that she has actually had lots of sleep and restful moments, and I'm thankful to be here to help her when it gets miserable.  Tonight is the first time she's been able to keep any food down, so hopefully that'll help her feel stronger. We all got to eat dinner and watch School of Rock together, which was nice. Thanks for your prayers, (and thanks to Chet for the good advice on taking care of a flu patient)! =)

Off to bed now.  G'night!

All The Things...

Lately, I keep thinking, "I should blog about that," then not actually taking the time to do it.  So this post will be a hodge-podge mix of all the things I've been wanting to write. lol  Here goes...

  • My current musical crush = Ed Sheeran... I'd pick him over JT any day!  I finally downloaded the full Divide album this week, and it's been on repeat since then!!
  • My favorite songs, (aside from Perfect and Shape of You which I downloaded long ago), are Nancy Mulligan (about his grandparents' love story, lots of Irish undertones), Supermarket Flowers (about his other grandmother who died), What Do I Know? (about how love can change the world), Bibia Be Ye Ye (which means "All will be well" in a native Ghanian language), Dive (about how he falls hard and fast), and Save Myself (about choosing self care when you tend to put all your energy into helping other people).  SO GOOD.
  • Tell me this isn't fantastic!!
  • This FB ad definitely made me laugh out loud! =)
  • Today is a day for Airborne!  Mom came down with the flu yesterday and is fairly miserable. I drove down to help take care of her last night, so I'm all about the face masks, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and vitamin C! (I got the flu shot this year, so I should be good there.)  Please pray for Mom to fight this off and get better soon!!
  • I got to meet baby Tate on February 3rd -  so precious!!  I took lots of pics, so I'll do a full Memory Monday on that soon. =)
And now, a few Quotables:

Tiffany, watching a cute commercial with a precious older couple:  "Awww, I want the old people love!!  (Pause) But preferably, I want love before that.  Let me clarify that, Lord!  I want to grow old *with* someone!"

Chet Lee, first thoughts on parenting after seeing baby Tate:  "They were cleaning him up, and I was just thinking, 'Whoa! We've gotta take this thing home!!"
LOL I laugh because I can picture his facial expression thinking about that, and because I know I'd feel the same way as a new parent - a mix of excitement and fear and being overwhelmed.

Me, texting:  "How was your first night back home?"
Chet:  "Tate 1, parents 0 lol. It was a long night."

Jaceman, freaking out after falling and scraping his elbow:  "Where's my skin!?  Will it ever come back?  I want my skin back!!"
Haha, poor guy! I laughed pretty hard when Mom told me that story.

Playing Would You Rather at the coffee house after Sam n' Ella's:
Kelly:  So would you rather always have to speak everything you're thinking OR never be able to speak again??
Chettles, pondering the question:  Hmm, I'd have no friends left to talk to, so I guess either one. LOL
(Not sure how I missed this pic when it was posted, but it's making me really happy right now! lol)

My friend had a FB status about This Is Us, predicting what she thought would happen. Her husband's comment cracked me right up! lol
In another random This Is Us thread, someone commented:  "I'm really hoping that when this show ends, it ends with Jack waking up and unplugging the CrockPot, and it was all a dream!" LOL
The writers would never go there, but the thought is fantastic and funny! =)

The meme in the center was posted by my cousin, and it cracks me up!

Okay that's probably all for today!  I'm off to take care of Mom!!

MM ~ Tiffany's Birthday! =)

Last Friday (January 26th), we celebrated Tiffany's birthday with a road trip to Sam n' Ella's!  Jeff drove my car, so it was him, Kelly, Tiffany, and me... fun friends, memorable conversations. lol  Our waiter at S&E was entertaining and fun, and the pizza was tasty! It was Tiffany and Sarah's first time to eat there.
Here's a pic of both sides of the table.

After dinner, we went to the coffee place across the street. We got coffee or hot chocolate, then sang Happy Birthday and had some cookiecake!  We sat in a room upstairs where it was just our group, which was nice. Sadly, I didn't write down the good quotes and I can't remember them now, but it was fun!

Yay, Tiffany!!  And yay for cookiecake! lol

Group pic before we left.  This was exactly one week before Chet and Karli welcomed baby Tate! =)

The next morning (Tiffany's actual birthday), me, Tiffany, and Sarah met for brunch at Savoy's!  My first time there, and it was really good!  They're famous for their cinammon rolls, but the biscuits and gravy are pretty awesome, as well!!

Sarah texted us that she hadn't had time to do her eye makeup and might just wear her sunglasses the whole time. I laughed at the indoor sunglasses idea, then said we'd join her for a picture! lol

And that night was Senor Tequila's with some of Tiffany's friends from church!  =)  So it was a three-part celebration, which is always a great idea in my book!!  Maybe four-part, as they also celebrated her in the Court Clerk's Office here at work!

That's all for this morning. Happy Monday!

Birthday Buddies! =)

Well, it didn't happen quite as I'd expected... instead of sharing a birthday with me on the 17th, baby Tate Haywood Wilson (7 lbs, 8 oz) shares a Groundhog Day birthday with Jace Michael!!  =)  IT'S A BOY, and I'm so super excited for Chet and Karli!  This pic just makes me very happy... I may have called specifically to insist that he take and send pictures. lol  And what a cute name... I'm already excited about calling him Tater-tot! =) ❤

One last pre-baby pic of Chet and Karli...

Chet Lee suited up for the C-section! lol

.....Six years ago today....  so many memories from that day!!

So today we celebrate the newborn baby Tate Wilson!!  Hooray - so excited to meet him!  =)
AND we celebrate Jace Michael turning 6 years old!!  All hail the birthday king. lol

He's making an effort, but his posed smile is the worst. lol

This = the laugh and smile we know and love!  Such an expressive little storyteller! lol

Rach and Mom went all out decorating for his party tonight, and it was mass chaos, but fun times! =)

So happy Friday!!  That's all I've got for today! =)  Thanking God for healthy babies and awesome nephews!!

On This Day...

Since my last post, I made two big decisions I'd been putting off and wrestling with, and that small action already made a huge difference in how I feel.  I just have to keep praying for guidance and doing what's necessary to keep a peaceful heart and clear conscience!! ❤  I'm thankful for the way writing helps me to process things like that.

In other news, I love the Facebook On This Day feature.  This random photo sesh was on this day in 2015.... I love the 30 Second Theology, and I'm always up for a fun photo shoot! lol

On This Day in 2013, I posted this pic and was excited to celebrate the 1st birthday of Jace Michael the next day!  (He'll be 6 tomorrow and is having a Transformers party... get excited!)

Last year, I made this Flipagram for Jace's birthday... the whole thing makes me really happy, especially the videos at the end. The way he says, "Chet" still really cracks me up!  Maybe he thought Chet was stuck inside the phone? lol  =)  And "Gat go, Dyndal!" for "Let go, Kyndal" = also hilarious!

Ten years ago on this day was the Reba and Kelly concert with Bobbi!!  (Me and Kelly have gained some weight since then, but we're still awesome! lol)  Gah, I'm such a fan of both of them!!  All the attitude and confidence and sassyness and humor, not to mention the legit singing talent and fantastic songs!  Plus, I love their story... that Reba was Kelly's top choice when they could pick one favorite star they would love to perform with on American Idol... and Reba actually came and did a (freaking awesome) duet with her to Does He Love You?... and they became good friends because Reba's not full of herself and was excited about having someone talented to mentor and hang out with... then Kelly became an awesome star herself and probably brought some younger fans to Reba... then Reba had Kelly as a guest on her TV show (which I still love and want to come to Netflix)... and they did a full country/pop awesomesauce concert tour together, singing some songs on their own and lots of songs together... and Melissa Peterson, aka Barbara Jean, hosted and did some comedy at the concert... and Kelly eventually became Reba's daughter-in-law.  How could you not love them!?  I'd like to jump back in time and get to see this concert again tonight! lol
YAY, Reba and Kelly! ❤

There was also an awesome Dear Kitten video I shared on this day (HERE). I LOVE it! lol  They're my favorite commercials ever, aside from maybe the Budweiser clydesdale + puppy commercials! (Neither of which are products that I've ever bought, but that's beside the point.) ;-)

Anywho, huzzah for February being here!  The Super Bowl and the winter Olympics and lots of birthdays (including mine) and our Galentine's Lifegroup party and all the wintery cuteness!! The beginning of a new month is also a good fresh start/ clean slate kind of thing. =)  #favoritemonth #getexcited

Happy February, friends!! ❤❤❤

Photo Friday!

TGIF, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY-eve to my dear friend, Tiffany (see last year's tribute post HERE).  #29isfine

We're celebrating with a road trip to Sam n' Ella's tonight, followed by "cookie time in the park" (or at the coffee house or whatever)... get excited!! =)  Then tomorrow, the celebration continues with brunch, a movie, and dinner with more fun friends! Hooray!

* * * * * * *

In other very exciting news, last night after his basketball practice, Jace asked my Mom about baptism and when he could get baptized... She explained that you get baptized after you pray for Jesus to become your Savior (and explained the basic gospel details of Jesus death paying the price for our sin, and how we have to repent and ask Him to be our Lord)... and he said, "I'm just gonna pray that right now." Then folded his little hands and prayed out loud (which I do wish was somehow recorded because his prayers are always really precious, and Mom said it was a great prayer). Anyway, YAY!!  1-25-2018, a few days before his 6th birthday, the Jaceman's salvation date!  I also love that my Mom walked him through that and led him to Christ, as she did the same for me 27 years ago! =)  She was a little concerned about whether he's too young, but I think you don't have to be very old to understand the basic concepts, and God loves childlike faith!  He'll obviously grow in his understanding and maturity, as we all continue to do throughout our lives.  And Mom's gonna have their neighbor, Bob Rutherford, (our old pastor from Meadowood Baptist Church, and someone Jace chats with every time they're outside together), come over and talk with him a little and make sure he understands it. =)

(This = an artsy photo by the Miss K when we were at Ron's last weekend!) ❤

And this = the pic I took last year when his pre-dinner prayer was:  "God, You're so handsome, and I love You.  You're the best!  Amen." Using all the compliments he hears from Mamaw! lolol ❤

This Monday night was the Foster's Connect group (and Kristin's birthday-eve).  I made this collage for FB on her birthday... a pic of us from 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2018.  I'm so thankful for long-term, Godly friendships!!  Also, she and Jon are closing on their new house this morning - get excited! =)

That's all I've got for this post.  Lots of great things to celebrate today!!
