12 - Jenks, America

Day 12: Five Cool Things About Your City.

1)  Jenks Main Street!  Full of antique stores, boutiques, casual restaurants, and a fun bakery (CookieDoodle), Main Street is pretty much the cutest thing about my city!! :)  It's also the home of the Jenks Farmers Market and a big arts festival (Art on Main) every year. It'd be fun to do a booth there sometime. I've experienced all these things at least once, but I certainly can't say I'm a frequent shopper... I drive through Main Street all the time, though, and the charming, quaint atmosphere just makes me happy. My favorite thing is driving under the Christmas lights strung overhead at night... love it almost as much as I love tree bridges!! ;)

2)  Riverwalk Crossing and the Aquarium!  Sadly, this area has gone downhill since Tulsa Hills came to play, but I have a lot of great memories at Riverwalk concerts, Los Cabos, Melting Pot, Gina & Giuseppes, Pinot's Palette, Riverwalk movies, etc.! I've also been to the Aquarium a couple times... pretty cool... and I want to run the Jenks Aquarium Half next year because I'm a fan of their colorful medal! lol

3)  Tulsa Hills Shopping Center!  Technically Tulsa, not Jenks, but it's only a 5-minute drive from my place, and it is epic!! I was so excited when they started building, and it's just gotten better and better. It includes almost all of my favorite restaurants (Panera, Hideaway, Teds, Chick-Fil-A, etc.) and places to shop (Target, Maurices, Marshalls, Michaels, even a Petsmart) -- I don't love shopping, but when I need something, I like the shopping to be as close and quick as possible.  And I get awesome coupons for Tulsa Hills because I live close by... (nothing beats free Chick-Fil-A + a Valentine's flower from the Chick-Fil-A cow!) lol

4)  My Neighborhood!  Okay, this probably doesn't make the city any cooler to you, but I really do love my house and neighborhood... I could see myself living there for a long time... but if not, well, then I like the resale potential! lol #thankful  I love that it's a Jenks address centered between the awesomeness that is Tulsa Hills and the huge Glenpool Walmart. I love that I actually know my way around -- I'm directionally challenged, so I'm proud of myself for learning to navigate through Jenks, Tulsa, Sapulpa, Glenpool, Bixby, Broken Arrow, and Owasso! It's ideal that I'm close to the Jenks schools, Highway 75, and the Creek Turnpike. And it's just a cute, nice and quiet neighborhood with very observant, friendly-but-not-intrusive neighbors; a pool; a playground; and a soccer field! Love it. =)

(I love this song, thanks to HIMYM.)

5)  LifeChurch and a new Movie Theater! I still make the drive to the midtown campus to join my friends sometimes, but it's definitely nice to have the Jenks LifeChurch so close to me!  ...Finally, I'm eager for them to make progress on the south expansion of "The Walk" at Tulsa Hills (right behind that LifeChurch), which will include a brand new Carmike Cinema (YES, PLEASE), Chuy's restaurant, Aldi grocery store - (never been, but planning to try it), Gander Mountain, Freddie's Frozen Custard, and more!
Get - freaking - excited!! ;-)

Happy Thursday!
