9 - No Surprises Here

Day 9: Five Ways to Win Your Heart.

1.  Love and honor Jesus; love and honor me!  I wouldn't consider dating a man who didn't love Jesus - that's always been the most important quality on my list. And in the end, we're all most inclined to love those who love us back and love us well... I want a guy who loves me enough to treat me with dignity and never make me feel beneath him; to learn about my story, get to know my friends and family, fight for me, and see the good through the bad! :)

2.  Vulnerable communication.  I understand that men do intimacy differently than women and don't want to hash things out endlessly, but I couldn't marry someone who's not willing to have real, deep conversations with me. I want a man who knows his strengths and strives to be a confident, healthy person... yet is also self-aware and humble enough to see and admit his own weaknesses. (The reverse would apply for me, too.)

3.  Desire for children; open to adoption.  A man who is good with kids = attractive. A Godly man who has a real desire to adopt = gold! lol

4.  Have meaningful goals.  Be passionate about something - whether it's a career or service project or calling - that will further God's kingdom and improve the lives of other people!

5.  Be kind and fun!  Simple kindness has become SO attractive to me over the past two years. And having a good sense of humor and making me laugh definitely goes a loooong way in making a man more attractive to me! :)

My main turn-offs are passivity and a hot temper.  (One would continually bore and frustrate me; the other would be emotionally abusive).  Helpful Sidenote:  Pretty much anything that Ray Barone does on Everybody Loves Raymond, do the opposite! Ugh, I get so irritated with his passivity and selfishness that I want to scream sometimes. Then I remind myself that Debra chose to marry him... aaaand that he's fictional. lol

*Bonus points for heartfelt cards, creative gifts, yellow and/or pink roses, happy daisies, and most anything chocolate. lol Triple bonus points for loving John Eldredge books!
**Gold star for proposing at night in Vegas right in the middle of a Bellagio fountain show! ;)
Yeah, my dreams are not always super-grounded in reality, but at least I'm not asking for a yacht with fireworks, a la Holly Dei. lol Any creative proposal that has meaning to the two of us would be thrilling to me!!

This was a fun one to write. =)
Happy Monday, gang!
