Under Construction

Preface:  It's been a challenging past couple weeks, feeling a bit overwhelmed and a bit insecure.

It makes me happy to watch several homes taking shape across the street from me right now.  I am who I am, so my heart goes right to the metaphor.  The illustration of being "under construction" really encourages me.  I have a long way to go, but I've come such a long way, as well!  We are all works in progress until we get to heaven.  Keep setting meaningful goals and pressing toward them.  And your life will continue to take shape (and hopefully look more and more like Christ)!

Anyway, I meant to document this process a while back, but I'm thinking about it today, so here we go...

1.  Purchase the lot with the perfect address (4-9-22) and celebrate with a photo (4-16-22).

2.  After waiting almost two months on permits, the construction finally begins when the stem walls are poured (6-7-22). *Rachel Taron sent me this pic while I was in Vegas last summer!

3.  Foundation slab + plumbing pipes (6-16-22).

4.  Frame is up!! (6-28-22)

*That part went crazy fast, and it was exciting to walk through it in this stage!  Here's me and Tman taking an early tour after one of our Planet Fitness Summer-Pass workouts (6-29-22).

5.  Verses added (most of them early on 7-9-22)

6. Roof, siding, windows, and the famous "Proudly Overbuilt" Taber-wrap... and my bricks outside all ready to go! (7-26-22)

7.  Insulation added. (8-1-22)

8.  Walls - huzzah!!  This made it look so much bigger suddenly. (8-6-22)

9.  Bricks!!  I didn't love walking under the scaffolding in this stage. (Also 8-6-22)

10.  Tile flooring + unfinished cabinets and trim!  (8-22-22)

11.  Exterior Paint!  (8-23-22)

12.  Interior Paint!  (9-4-22)

13.  Appliances installed (9-13-22)

14.  Grass and landscaping!  (10-4-22)

15.  Moving Day!  (10-21-22)

...And then there was the moving process, installing and staining the fence, sealing the garage floor and porch and patio, and the ongoing small décor and landscaping changes.  It's a wonderful house, and the décor feels more and more like a reflection of who I am today and who I want to become!

Life Reminders:  The construction process gets very messy, but the mess won't last forever.  Don't cut corners - every step in your story matters.  The waiting seasons pay off eventually.  When you reach one goal, it's good to set a new one.  God is building something wonderful in and through your life, one step at a time! ❤

"Change is not a bolt of lightning that arrives with a zap. It is a bridge built brick by brick, every day, with sweat and humility and slips. It is hard work, and slow work, but it can be thrilling to watch it take shape."  -Sarah Hepola
"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."  ~Philippians 1:6
