Life in God

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not; Thy compassions, they fail not.
As Thou has been, Thou forever will be...
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside!
~Great is Thy Faithfulness

Today, I am thankful for my relationship with God! John Eldredge has said that most people make the mistake of treating God as a means to an end rather than the end itself, and it's true.  We pray and fret and work and maneuver to make our lives work out the way we want them to, but we tend to seek and prize the wrong things rather than truly seeking God first and trusting Him to work out His plans for us. 1 John 2:16-17 says, "This world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions... and this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever." I think about that "only a craving" line a lot -- how earthly lusts and cravings and addictions are ever-increasing and never fully satisfying. I want to do a better job of keeping God first in my heart! I am very thankful that He loves us enough to offer a personal relationship where we can abide in Him and draw life and strength from Him!!

Without suffering, grace is hard to see,
So maybe I'm right where I'm supposed to be...
Now I know that on my worst day,
The way You love me is never gonna change.
It's never really been about what I do but what You did.
