It was so little; there were so many -
To feed them all would take so much.
But He didn't laugh when the boy gave Him
What he knew was not enough.
Still, Jesus took it, and blessed it
And oh, the love that filled His eyes
As He held it and broke it,
And only then, it multiplied...
~Blessed and Broken, Nicole C. Mullins
I just read the chapter about the fish and loaves this morning. Today, I'm thankful that God can use and multiply whatever we give to Him! I LOVE the song above and can rarely get through it without tearing up. The "He didn't laugh when the boy gave him what he knew was not enough" line always gets me. It's so easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of pain and hunger and despair in the world, to feel like you can't make much difference. But it's not about us; it's about the power of God. And sometimes the places where we have faced the most brokenness are the exact places where God will work in and through us to help others. Only when we put ourselves in the hands of Jesus and choose to abide in Him! Apart from Him, we can do nothing...
Name above all names, You are worthy of all praise!
And my heart will sing: How great is our God!
Sing with me - how great is our God.
And all will see how great, how great is our God!
