Work

You are peace, You are peace
When my fear is crippling.
You are true, You are true
Even in my wandering...
Oh, I'm running to Your arms,
I'm running to Your arms.
The riches of Your love will always be enough.
Nothing compares to Your embrace.
Light of the world, forever reign.
~Forever Reign, Hillsong

Today, I am thankful for my job! I've searched for something else that would be well-suited for me, but that path has been blocked many times. Maybe God will lead me to something else eventually, but if not, I finally feel like that would be okay. Crazily enough, this is my 12th year as a court reporter, so I've learned to appreciate it a lot more over time. I'm obviously thankful for the stable salary and extra transcript income, good benefits, great hours and vacation time, and being able to read and blog and work on side projects when I'm all caught up here. I'm thankful that court reporting school was mostly covered by a grant so I don't have the burden or stress of student loans. I'm glad that I work in a smaller county (where it's less busy) and work for the District Judge (meaning more interesting criminal cases rather than depressing divorce arguments and custody battles all day - so many things I do not miss about Chickasha). I'm thankful for my red mirror that used to hang in mom's office when she was a court reporter. :) I'm thankful that my friend, Laura, is now my coworker as Judge's Secretary/Bailiff. And more often than not, I am thankful for the quiet background nature of this position - that it doesn't require much small talk and it gives me lots of time to observe and listen and think and read and write, all of which my introvert self likes to do. Now I just need to think of a brilliant book series idea, then I'll be all set! ;-)

Holy Spirit, You are welcome here.
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for;
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord!
~Holy Spirit, Francesca Battistelli
