Today = My favorite movie and what it's about
1. Titanic -- (click for link)
The true story of the Titanic's first and only voyage, which comes alive through the eyes of a fictional couple, Jack Dawson (a Third Class passenger who dies at sea when the ship sinks) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (a First Class passenger who is rescued by the only lifeboat that comes back). I identify with Rose's strong desire to be seen and loved for who she really is, with her nearly-suicidal-level distaste for the fakeness surrounding her, and with her hope that life can get better if she chooses to have courage and make some big changes! I have seen this movie at least 15 times in theaters now... and I would still go again, so it deserves the number one spot on my list! "Titanic was called the ship of dreams, and it was... it really was!" ;-)
2. The Greatest Showman
The rose-colored-musical-version of the PT Barnum story, a man who dreamed big and started a very successful circus which created a makeshift home and family for many who had been shunned as outcasts, a feeling so many of us share and understand. It also contrasts pursuing the American dream and never feeling good enough in the face of critics with finding real peace by surrounding yourself with "a few good people" who love you. Saw this one 7 times in theaters and loved every brilliant minute! =)
"So tell me do you wanna go where it's covered in all the colored lights, where the runaways are runnin' the night? Impossible comes true; it's taking over you! Oh, this is the greatest show!!"
