CHRISTMAS MEMORIES 2011
'Twas the year of the Anthropologie L-mug, a Christmas gift from JEM and Chet Lee! =) This pic of us hanging out at the Utica Square Starbucks the night they gave me this present still makes me happy. The mug is proudly displayed in my kitchen to this day, currently holding my Apple Watch and charger. lol
A pic from Laura's December birthday party at Napoli's in Sand Springs (little did I know I'd be going there regularly over a decade later)... Jennie after we completed our rainy Jingle Bell Run 5k... and the bottom two are from Kristin and Frankie's wedding that December! The boys were so little and adorable -- (side note: Carter and Jace both have this comical ability to look mischievous when they're not doing anything wrong). lol
This was also the year that the guys returned from their Europe vacation, and Jeffrey hosted a party in November where they shared lots of pictures and stories from their trip! =)
That November, our family (+ Malori) went on a Vegas trip for Bill and Jill's wedding, immediately followed by this awful car wreck, where we praise God for protecting Mom and Dad that day!
Due to the above-mentioned wreck, Mom's leg was injured and developed a terrible staph infection... then there were multiple debridement procedures and hospital stays. It was a winter filled with Wound Vacs and PICC lines and hospital stays and caring friends stepping up, but we were very thankful that she was alive and recovering well!! This = Rach changing the dressing on Mom's PICC line on Christmas Eve...
Our usual restaurant plan was not an option that year. We had a low-key, pajama-clad Christmas Eve celebration with Mom's side of the fam, including a fantastic breakfast for dinner meal! There were pancakes, bacon, eggs, strawberries and dip, donuts, orange juice, chocolate milk, and more! =) The boys had asked for candy, so that's what I got them. Triston opened his sack and said, "Wow, millions and millions of candies!!" lol (*Rachael LaJo was 7-months pregnant with Jace Michael at the time, so her Christmas presents included several baby-shower-style gifts!!)
Emily (an OSU grad) got this Cowboys onesie for Jace... and I've always loved that Grandad is quietly tearing up with joy thinking about his great-grandson in the background! ❤
This was during the period where I was fantastic at taking lots of pictures but not great at asking someone else to take a few with me in them. I've improved on that since.
All things considered, this homebound Christmas Eve still registers as one of my favorites. T&C were cute and fun, "helping" in the kitchen, being super excited about their gifts, looking through scrapbooks, and being funny on accident as kids so often are! Everyone was excited about meeting Jace soon (we had decorated his nursery room that fall). And there was a deep sense of gratitude for the family togetherness and that Mom and Dad were both okay! ❤
That's all for today.
Happy Birthday to Tall Kyle, and Happy Wednesday, friends and fam!
